Fly In Straight From Discord
Recruiting PUGs no longer means handing out web links. Drop a Discord invite in any server and newcomers land right in your signup channel, held to that one door until they hit Apply. Hootus pulls their character off the armory, asks their role, and a raid leader gives the yes or no, straight into the raid thread and voice.
5 New
The PUG invite link is now right where you need it
Every raid post now carries its Discord PUG invite link right under the signup line, so recruiting is a copy away without digging. Need it on its own? /pug link hands you the current invite any time, ready to drop in game chat or another server.
Keep your PUGs and ping them for the next raid
Turn on PUG raid pings and players who apply can opt in to a DM whenever you post a new public raid, with the signup invite ready and an unsubscribe button on every ping. Raid leaders get a /pug block to keep someone out of the pool and /pug to see who is waiting, and nobody already in the raid gets double-pinged.
A proper Discord signup link, right next to the web one
Every public raid now has its own Discord signup invite, separate from the "join us on Discord" comms link, that drops recruits straight into your signup channel to apply. Grab it wherever the web signup link shows or with /raid signup-invite.
Pick your own Applicant role
The Applicant hold role for Discord raid signups now has its own picker under Settings, Access, right next to the PUG role. Map it to any role you like, or leave it blank and Hootus falls back to a role named Applicant.
Recruit PUGs straight from a Discord invite
Turn on Discord raid signups and Hootus builds an invite that drops recruits into your signup channel wearing a temporary Applicant role, so they see just that one channel. They hit Apply, Hootus looks up their character and asks their role and which raid, a raid leader approves or declines, and approved players get pulled into the private thread and voice.
5 Improved
The soft-reserve instance list only shows your expansion now
Picking an instance for soft reserves used to hand you every raid from every expansion in one long scroll. The list is now trimmed to your guild's expansion, so a Burning Crusade guild sees Burning Crusade raids and nothing else.
Loot winners link straight to their character
Names in the loot log are clickable now. Hootus looks up which character took the drop and points the link at their profile, realm and all. If a winner is not on the roster, the name just sits there quietly instead of leading nowhere.
PUG blocking moved to a command, off the decline card
The red Block from pool button is gone from decline messages (too easy to fat-finger). Blocking is now a deliberate raid-leader command: /pug block @user handles it, /pug unblock lifts it, and /pug pool now lists who is actually opted in for raid pings, not just a headcount.
PUG signups check the armory, not your roster
The Discord raid signup is for pickup players, so it confirms the character straight from the armory instead of your guild roster, and asks you to try again on a miss rather than dropping you on a class picker. When a raid leader approves or declines, the temporary Applicant role clears and approved players drop into the raid thread and voice.
Member verification shrugs off typos
The character lookup used when members verify (the welcome greeting and DM invite flows) now catches near-misses. A single-letter typo like Bivirking finds Bivirkning in your roster and suggests it, instead of coming up empty.
7 Fixed
Raid channels stay Hootus-only, and PUGs land straight in the thread
The raid-day channels are Hootus's podium now: raiders read the post, the thread is where everyone talks, and a couple of paths that kept re-opening posting after you locked it down are fixed. PUGs no longer get a blanket view of the raid channels either, since signing up drops them straight into the private raid thread.
Editing the addon list is back in the right claws
The addon catalog could be edited by any member, which was not the plan. Everyone still sees the list, but adding, changing and removing addons is now reserved for the raid team and officers.
A dropped database connection no longer knocks Hootus off his perch
When the database connection blipped mid-flight, Hootus would take the whole thing personally and restart. Now he shrugs off that particular hiccup, lets the one unlucky query retry, and stays on his branch. Connections also get recycled on a timer so they go stale less often.
Character links no longer dead-end on two-word realms
Clicking a character on a realm with a space in its name, like Mirage Raceway, could land on an empty page because the link and the lookup disagreed on how to spell the realm. Hootus now shrugs off the spelling. Hyphen, space, or capitals, he matches the realm and lands you on the right character every time.
Confirming attendance no longer flashes a false scare
Hitting Confirm and publish on a post-raid attendance card could flash a red "This interaction failed" even though the run was safely logged in the reports. Hootus now nods back the instant you click, then fills in the numbers, so the button is as smooth as the bookkeeping under it always was. The mark-everyone-present and save buttons got the same quick nod.
Retyping a signup name no longer piles up messages
When a character name misses and you tap "type a different name", Hootus now updates the same message with the next result instead of leaving a trail of old "couldn't find that one" notes behind.
Character lookup now works on every flavour
Signup lookups were always asking the armory using the TBC namespace, so MoP Classic guilds never found anyone and fell back to a manual class pick. It now asks with your guild's own flavour, on both the Discord and web signup flows.
