Getting approved now actually gets you somewhere. Thread, voice and roles land the moment a raid leader says yes, instead of thirty minutes before pull.

  1. A little hello in the thread

    When a PUG is approved, Hootus drops a line in the raid thread with their character, spec and role, so the raid lead can see who just walked in without going hunting.

  1. PUGs sit where raiders sit

    Opening the raid channel to a PUG accidentally let them post in the channel itself, something raiders are not allowed to do. A PUG now gets exactly what a raider gets in there: read the posts, talk in the raid thread, react, and nothing more.

  2. PUGs get their emotes back

    Reactions are switched off server-wide and handed back to raiders, which quietly left PUGs unable to react to anything in the raid thread while everyone around them could. They can now react in the raid channel they were let into, same as the rest of the raid.

  3. The door was locked from the outside

    Approved PUGs were never landing in the raid thread, because Discord will not seat you in a private thread you cannot see the room for. Hootus now opens the one raid channel that PUG is actually raiding in, so approval puts them in the thread properly. They see that channel and no others, and it closes behind them when the raid wraps or the PUG role lapses.

  4. Filed under the wrong perch

    A PUG approved from the web who had not joined the Discord yet was being counted as already in the nest. The sign-up page then offered them a raid thread link they had no way to open, and hid the invite they actually needed. Membership now only counts once they are really through the door.

    Sign-ups from the web used to sit in limbo after approval and only got their Discord invite when the raid locked, half an hour before pull. Now approval does the whole job: raid thread, voice, roles, and a DM with the link. Anyone not in the server yet gets their invite the moment they are approved instead of on raid night.

  6. No more quiet failures

    If the raid thread had drifted out of memory, Hootus would skip adding the PUG and cheerfully report success anyway, then DM them a thread link that led nowhere. It now goes and fetches the thread, and squawks in the officer channel if the add genuinely fails.
