Soft reserves

Reserve the drops you want, and how officers set it up.

Soft reserves let you claim the drops you care about before a raid. Any signed raider can reserve; the setup notes near the end are for raid leads.

What a soft reserve is

A soft reserve is calling dibs on a drop before the raid. Pick the items you want, and when they drop you have a claim on them. Each raid sets its own max per player, so you get a few picks, not the whole loot table.

Most guilds keep the list on softres.it. Your raid lead pastes that link onto the raid, and Hootus carries it for them: on the signup post, in the reminder nudge, and in the DM you get when the raid locks. Open the link, reserve there, done.

Hootus also has a built-in list of his own. It works, but it is a beta and far fewer guilds run it, so check which one your lead set up before you go looking. The rest of this section covers the built-in list. If your raid points at softres.it, reserve on that page instead and skip ahead to Reserves freeze at lock.

Both lists can exist at once, and Hootus only carries one link. When the built-in list is on and public it wins, so your lead has to post the softres.it link by hand if they want both.

Open the built-in reserve page

If your raid uses a public list, the link is posted right in the raid's Discord post, and Hootus repeats it in raid reminders. Open it and you'll see the raid name, its start time, and badges up top: the instance, the max per player, and a Locks in countdown if the lead set a lock time.

Everyone's picks show in the All soft reserves list, item on the left, character on the right in class colour. Item names link to Wowhead.

Add your reserves

On the Reserve as a guest card:

 1. Type your character name and pick your class.
 2. Hit Add item and search the drop you want. Repeat up to the limit. The counter shows Items (2 of 3) so you know how many you have left.
 3. Drop a pick with the X if you change your mind.
 4. Hit Submit.

Some raids drop several items with the exact same name, one per difficulty, and the Warglaives are two different items entirely. Every row in the picker shows its item level and its item id underneath the name, and the name is in its quality colour, so pick by those rather than by the name alone. Your picks list repeats both, so check them before you submit.

If your search comes up empty it almost always means a typo, and the picker says so. "No loot catalogue" is the other message, and that one is your lead's problem, not yours.

You can't go over the per-player limit. Unless the raid allows duplicates, an item someone already grabbed is off the table. Items that don't drop in the raid's instance are refused. Screenshot the final list and bring it to the raid.

Reserves freeze at lock

Reserves stay open until the lock time at the top. Once the countdown hits zero the list turns into a Locked badge, the form closes, and the list is final. Get your picks in before then. The countdown re-checks every 30 seconds, so a page left open can look live for a moment after the deadline; the save will still be refused.

The lock stops raiders, not officers. Raid leads can add, edit and remove entries after it, which is how a late fix gets made.

Reserved by raid leads

Some drops get set aside up front. If the raid has any, they show in a Reserved by raid leads panel with who they're going to. Those are spoken for.

Who can see the list

Raid leads choose the visibility:

 • Private stays with the officers.
 • Public hands out an open link anyone can view and reserve on, no login needed. That includes PUGs with no Discord account.

That's everything you need as a player. The rest is for raid leads.

This is the path most guilds want. Make the raid on softres.it, then hand Hootus the link: set it on the raid in the planner, or run /raid edit raid-id:
softres:
in Discord. He puts it on the signup post, in the reminder nudge, and in the lock DM, so nobody asks where the link went at 19:58. softres:none takes it back off.

For officers: the built-in list, a beta

Hootus can also run the list himself. Open the raid in the planner and hit Soft reserves in the toolbar. That dialog is the whole setup:

 1. Turn on Built-in list.
 2. Check the instance. It defaults to the raid's own instance, which is right nearly every time. Without one the item picker has nothing to offer and nobody can reserve.
 3. Set max per player. 0 closes reserves without turning the list off.
 4. Leave allow duplicates off unless you want several people claiming the same drop.
 5. Set a lock time if you want one, in server time. Blank leaves reserves open.
 6. Turn on Public link and save. The dialog then shows the reserve page URL with a copy button. No link means the save did not take the public branch, so check both switches are on.

Hootus puts that link on the signup post, the reminder nudge and the lock DM, in place of the softres.it link. If the raid has both, only the built-in one goes out.

Treat this as a beta. It is built and it works, but it has seen far less real raid use than the softres.it route, so it is the riskier pick for a night that matters.

Import pulls a softres.it export into the built-in list and matches each entry to a signed raider by character name. Entries with no matching signup get skipped, which means PUGs who reserved on softres.it are dropped. There is no paste-and-import screen yet.

Commands in this guide

/raid edit

Where to configure this

 • A softres.it link is set per raid, in the web planner or with /raid edit.
 • The built-in list lives per raid in the web planner too, behind the Soft reserves button in the planner toolbar. It is a beta.
 • Hard-reserve presets in Settings → LFM posts are text for the LFM message. They are not the per-raid reserved drops and nothing carries them into a raid's reserve list.
