One Hootus, Two Windows
Discord and the dashboard had quietly grown into two bots that disagreed. Move a raid on the web and the reminders never fired. Promote someone there and it undid itself within the hour. Sign up through the site and nobody checked your Mage could tank. They now run the same code, so whichever window you use, the answer is the same. Fifteen admin subcommands became twelve and one honest diagnostic: ask /hootus check and he tells you what he thinks and why.
2 New
Ask /hootus check what he makes of someone
Everything Hootus knew about a member was locked inside him: what standing he thinks they have, why he thinks it, which roles he would move and what is stopping him. Now you ask. /hootus check on a member gives you all of it in plain English with a Fix roles button when something needs fixing, and asking with no member gives you the whole server instead: setup state, how old the roster is, what permissions he is missing, and which channels he has nowhere to post in.
A guide for when verification goes wrong
Three of the tools an officer needs most when someone cannot get verified appeared in no guide at all. There is now a page covering /officer-verify, /pending and /manage member reset, what each held status actually means, and why Hootus sometimes will not move anyone. The docs page also reaches every subcommand now rather than stopping at the top level, which was about ninety of them missing.
3 Improved
Membership tracking works on your server without asking anyone
Keeping Discord roles in step with the WoW roster was behind a switch that had no page, no command and no way to turn on. It defaulted to off, so every server that installed Hootus ran without it, and an officer using the override commands was told their change 'is filed and changes nothing yet' with nothing they could do about it. It is simply on now. The safety limits are untouched: he refuses on a roster older than six hours, on a roster that has suddenly shrunk, and he will never move more than half your server in one pass.
Twelve admin subcommands instead of fifteen
/manage pug-cleanup did what an hourly job already does. /manage member reassign is now the Fix roles button on /hootus check. /manage permissions was the same report /hootus check gives you. /dashboard printed one link, which /help now prints. Nothing you were using has gone; the duplicates have.
The privacy page says what your public guild page shows
Opening recruitment publishes a page about your guild that search engines can read. The recruitment settings and the FAQ started saying so last release; the privacy page still did not mention it existed. It now lists exactly what goes on it, notes that it counts your members but never names them, and says which switch turns it off.
8 Fixed
Raid reminders stopped ending in gibberish
Every 24-hour, 2-hour and tentative reminder DM ended with the words 'Grab a spot:' followed by the literal text [object Promise] instead of a link. It was one missing word in the code, in three places, and it had been going out to everyone on every raid. The link works now.
Moving a raid on the dashboard stopped silently killing its reminders
Changing a raid's time in Discord reset its reminders for the new date. Changing it on the dashboard wrote the new time and nothing else, so the raid quietly got no 24-hour ping, no 2-hour ping and no morning nudge, and the thread kept the old day in its name. Both now do exactly the same thing, including refusing a date in the past and shifting the signup deadline along with it.
The dashboard promote button stopped undoing itself
Promoting someone from the members page set their status and then wiped the very thing that would have held it, so the hourly re-check put them straight back. It looked like it worked and it never did. Now it either sticks, or it tells you why not and which command to use instead: usually that the person is not on your WoW roster, which is a real answer rather than a silent reversal.
Signing up through the website gets the same checks as Discord
The website took any three words you sent it. Not whether the role was real, not whether your class could fill it, not whether the character was even yours. Discord had refused all three for years. Now one set of rules covers both, so a Mage cannot sign as a tank on the site any more than in the server, and a locked raid stops quietly taking signups.
Approving one applicant stopped wiping the others
Where several applicants shared a message, approving one stamped the first applicant's card and stripped everyone else's buttons, whoever you actually clicked. Each card is now its own thing. This is why the pending list had to hand you a few at a time, and it no longer has to.
The welcome panel stopped letting through people /verify turns away
A member who had been turned down could not use /verify, but could click the same button on the welcome panel and walk the whole flow again, landing back in the officer queue and generating a fresh approval request. The panel and the command now give the same answer.
Adding a player to a raid tells you when it did not work
The Add Member dialog on the planner sent your request, closed itself, and never said whether it worked. If the raid was still a draft, or the class could not fill the role you picked, nothing happened and nothing was said. It now says so, and pre-filling a draft roster before you post the raid works again.
Roster syncs stopped quietly wiping item level
Blizzard's guild roster does not report item level, and Hootus was writing that blank down over the real number on every sync, for every character it matched. Between that and the same bug on specs after changing your main, signups kept losing the information they needed to guess your role. He keeps what he already knows now.
