Clear two instances in a night and Hootus counts both

Serpentshrine then Tempest Keep used to be one raid on the sheet and one raid in your attendance, no matter that half the group swapped between them. Hootus now gives the second instance its own record so the right people get credit for the bit they actually raided. It never shows up on the calendar, because nobody signed up for it.

Attach a log and Hootus marks the attendance himself

If the report names someone who was in the fights and nobody credited them, Hootus credits them, and attaching a log confirms the night instead of waiting two days for the timer. He will never take silence the other way, though. A log that stopped early looks exactly like a night off, so anyone the report does not name keeps whatever they already had.

Hootus asks which character is your main rather than guessing

Connect Battle.net and your alts arrive, but if a server has no main set for you he now asks instead of picking one. One question per server, because your main in one guild has nothing to do with your main in another, and the list only ever shows the characters that server already knows about. Already have a main? He says nothing.

Membership now follows the guild roster instead of a form

You are a member here if any character you own is in this server's WoW guild. Any of them, not just your main. Leave the guild and Hootus works it out on the next roster sync, and if you come back he works that out too, which is the half that never used to happen. Officers get the final word either way with /manage membership. Off by default until an officer turns it on, and there is a preview so you can see exactly who would move before anything does.

A character now belongs to one person everywhere

Your characters used to be filed separately in every server, so the same druid could quietly belong to two different people in two different places. There is now one record per character, and a second claimant gets turned away and written into the guild feed for an officer to look at. Each guild still only ever sees its own slice, never your alts elsewhere.

Friend is called Guest now, because that is what it was

A guest is someone you have let in on purpose. Maybe they left the guild and you still want them around, maybe they do not play at all. Hootus had two words for that and used one of them, Friend, as the place he put people he simply could not identify. Same idea, one honest name, and the wording no longer reads like a demotion when it never was one.

Popping into raid voice no longer counts as raiding

Hootus was marking anyone who joined the raid channel as present, so one Karazhan night recorded thirteen raiders on a ten man. Now a log decides where there is one, time in the channel decides where there is not, and dropping in to say hello counts as neither present nor absent. Which is the truth, because you were not there.

The Raider role now checks you are actually in the guild

Anyone Hootus had a record of could give themselves Raider, including people he had never matched to the roster. It now asks whether you are a member first and explains itself if not. Taking the role off still works for everyone, so nobody is stuck with raid pings they did not want.

Rejoining the server no longer strands you as unverified

Leave and come back and Hootus would quietly restore your membership in his records while handing you the unverified role and asking you to verify a character he already knew about. He now gives you your roles back and says welcome home instead.

Calling ahead stopped counting against you

Telling the raid you cannot make it was being filed as a kind of attendance, so it landed in the same total as the people who turned up and quietly ate into your attendance rate. Tempest Keep was reading 26 present and 11 absent on a raid that holds 25. Absences now live on the signup sheet where they belong, and the number you see when you save is the number that gets published.

Being marked a Friend stopped being a one-way trip

If the armory was out of date on the day you verified, Hootus filed you as a Friend and then never looked again, which locked a handful of real raiders out of the web app while they sat in the roster at ordinary rank. He now re-checks everyone on his six-hourly round, in both directions, and moves the Discord roles to match instead of leaving them to drift.

The applicant tidy-up had been falling over hourly since July

One badly-shaped date meant the whole sweep threw before it read a single row, so nobody was ever cleared and applicants kept the role indefinitely. Hootus was dutifully logging the failure once an hour and nobody was reading it.

Invites stopped handing out roles the database disagreed with

A /ginvite whose character did not check out was saved as needing a look but handed the full Member and Raider set anyway, so the roles said one thing and the record said another. The roles now follow the record, and the officers hear about it rather than finding out later.
